CMU and Hardscape Manufacturing
RCP manufactures an array of the highest quality concrete products. Concrete block and concrete masonry units are manufactured in a variety of custom colors, sizes, and textures. Also manufactured by RCP Block & Brick the the Bella Vista Hardscape Collection which includes retaining walls,concrete interlocking pavers, and other hardscape products. These products are used on a variety of schools, airports, libraries, office buildings, and residential homes in the Southern California area.
RCP Block & Brick's concrete block manufacturing plant consists of two 50,000 square foot buildings in Otay, CA. These house three Columbia block production machines. These machines have the capacity to produce millions of concrete units per year. RCP Block & Brick's Otay Mesa facility is a fully automated, state of the art manufacturing plant. It includes computer controlled machines, rail systems, curing rooms, and packaging. Also available are the ability to perform in-line tumbling, in-line splitting, shot-blasting, grinding, and other special treatments. The RCP Block & Brick manufacturing plant contains a Granumat Color Mixing System. This enables uniform and consistent color distribution across the entire line of available hardscape and masonry products.
RCP Manufacturing Plant - Otay Mesa, CA
In early 2016, the original RCP concrete block manufacturing plant located in Santee, CA was decommissioned. After closure, an intensive project was undertaken to restore the local area to its original natural habitat along the San Diego River. Since the closure of the Santee manufacturing plant, all concrete block and hardscape manufacturing occurs at the Otay Mesa manufacturing plant. RCP also runs a sacking operation which bags such items as sand, gravel, decorative rock, soil, and more.

History of RCP Block & Brick
The years following the end of World War II dawned a new age for San Diego County. The war had brought an influx of new residents into the area, due to the presence of the United States Navy. This created many opportunities for the men and women who had served their country.
A natural growth industry in this up and coming town would be construction. More homes, schools, and stores would need to be built to support the increased population. Thus, building materials, including concrete block, were a necessity.
In 1947 Marvin Finch was one of those young lads. At the age of 20 years he was returning from Germany after months of helping in the War clean-up effort. His service had taught him many things. Taking orders as a private, he learned that he wanted to be his own boss and didn't want to work for someone else. A high school pal discovered that Marv had $400 pay from the Army Air Corp. burning a hole in his pocket. That, along with a strong back, bought him part ownership in a concrete block making business.
Marvin Finch - RCP Founder
Revolutionized Concrete Products was born. Marv tired of writing the entire name, later shortened the name to "RCP". RCP started with only four employees and made only one size of concrete block. They started by cranking out 8x4x12 units by hand. Sales for the first 12 months totaled $8,000. Hard work, small returns and tough times took their toll on Marv’s three partners. By the early 50’s Marv was a sole proprietor.

In 1948, the Chubb Family of La Mesa (Harry, Jane and their sons Wayne and Gene) established La Mesa Block Company. Like RCP Company, La Mesa Block manufactured a limited line of concrete block. As time went on, each business continued to prosper. La Mesa Block Company expanded, with stores in Lemon Grove, La Mesa and Santee. They also built a modern block manufacturing plant in Santee, CA. La Mesa Block and RCP Company merged to become what is now RCP Block & Brick, Inc in 1966. Since that time, growth in the San Diego building industry and at RCP has been tremendous.
Today, RCP serves dealers, contractors, and homeowners, throughout Southern California. RCP provides convenient access to hardscape and masonry supplies with 6 retail locations.
RCP was founded on a dedication to honest business practices, quality products, and friendly service. To this day, RCP Block & Brick continues to adhere to these founding principles. The passing of Marvin Finch in 1998, and brother Chuck Finch in 2010 were sad times for family, staff and customers alike. Marvin's family remain committed to Marvin’s ideals and values as they bring the company into the future. That commitment is seen in RCP’s 250 plus employees, many of whom have been with the company for 20 or 30 years and longer.
RCP Block & Brick has been awarded many business honors. These include “San Diego County Small Business of the Year” from the State Senate and “Large Family Owned Business of the Year”. RCP also works to benefit the community through the sponsorship of many local organizations.
